Yeah, The camp is open, the dam is open (7200 CFS – The Highest we’ve ever seen it) Fishing is limited to two spots but we can’t think of a better place to be! Welcome Donna, You’re a wonderful cook…keep up the good work. We enjoyed the new wood burning stove on the days our cabin was a bit too cold.
Welcome to all the new staff, Carl, Steve & those we didn’t have the chance to meet. Have a great season- See ya next year!
P.S. Being the only one’s in camp is a good thing, too bad the water
was too high.

Opening Day

Another great vacation @ Lakewood. We had a fun crowd this
Memorial Day and the water level was lowered just in time for our
arrival so the fishing was great too! Warm days and cool nights gave us opportunity to fire up the wood stove.
Thank you to all the staff for making us feel at home!
We’ll see you again next year!
Thanks, Whit & Maureen

We truly enjoyed our stay at Lakewood. The presentation by American
Fly Fishing Museum and American Angler folks was most enjoyable.
Loved this river. Especially liked the soups & desserts. Maureen & Whit certainly made us feel right at home. Thanks for a great stay. Hope to
get up here again next year. Guide was terrific!

Thank you all for another wonderful vacation. It means so much to my family to have such a special place to come to. From the moment we stepped on the boat over here I have felt utterly calm & content. Your staff, as always, is superb.
I can’t wait until next summer.
Take care,

This was our first time here though family has been here before. We loved
it and plan to come back. The kids loved fishing off the dock and got to
kayak and swim. Tom had a great time fishing even though he didn’t
catch the big one, lost in the river.

Totally enjoyed these Back Woods, lake, walks through the turning leaves and Mt. views. A great spot to celebrate 50 years of friendship for two ol’gals who met as teens at a N.H. camp. Thanks for good food and friendly hospitality of your long time tradition.

9/27-9/29/06

Incredible fall colors, beautiful spawning lines on the brook trout as Flyrod Crosby called them here in 1896 “Speckled Beauties”! The Carter family hospitality was wonderful, and the cooking incredible, sadly I could not get Robin to fork over her secret recipe for those wonderful oatmeal cookies!...Maybe next year I convince her to share it…

Lake Wood Camps

What's peaceful, joyful, and fun all at the same time? Read on to find out what I think this wonderful place is. This place is Lake Wood Camps, Maine. The pace you stay in a decent size cabin. It has two bedrooms with two beds in each room. The cabin also has a living room with a fireplace. Also at night you can sit on the porch and listen to the lake while eating a snack. Doesn't that sound terrific? It does to me.
If you enjoy swimming, guess what? There is a beach only one minute away. You can get there real easy. There are no cars and no roads. That means no traffic! I bet having the beach only one minute away is your favorite thing. I know my favorite.
The dinner was great food! Right next to the diner is where you get the canoes or kayaks. That is another thing I like to do, canoe in the lake. If you want to do something peaceful, take a boat ride. You can also go fishing for different kinds of fish. I don't know what kind of fish there are, but there are a lot. What makes it so peaceful is the whole place is surrounded with trees.
The owners have two dogs which are great with kids. The two dogs' names are Teddy and Eliza. Eliza plays soccer with people. Teddy is just like a cheerleader. I hope you bring your kids or just you, just the same as I will.
Now that you have read what I have written do you know what's peaceful, joyful, and fun? Of course you do, it's Lake Wood Camps, Maine.
